Imre Szeman is Director of the Institute for Environment, Conservation and Sustainability
and Professor of Human Geography at the University of Toronto Scarborough. His current
research focuses on the socio-cultural dimensions of energy use and its implications for
energy transition and climate change. He was the faculty lead for Earth Switch, a year-long
project to involve high school and university students in the eastern GTA, Durham Region,
and Peterborough and the Kawarthas in Ontario’s expanding electric vehicle and mobility
sector. He is the author or editor of more than thirty books, including Futures of the Sun (U
of Minnesota P forthcoming 2024). Szeman is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
