Mercedeh Madani
Mercedeh Madani is the Acting Director of Housing Policy and Strategy at the City of
Toronto’s Housing Secretariat. She has been leading the development and implementation
of a full range of City housing programs and policies, most notably the City of Toronto’s
HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan. In her role, she is responsible for developing system-
level housing policies and programs and strengthening partnerships with community and
government partners. She has coordinated the implementation of Modular Housing and
Rapid Housing Initiatives that created hundreds of deeply affordable homes with support
services for people experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a firm
believer that housing is where the journey to healing, success and prosperity begins.
Mercedeh is a graduate from the University of Toronto’s Master’s Program in Urban
Planning.
