The Affordable Housing Summit

Victoria Armit

Victoria Armit is the Operations Manager for Business Growth and Community Development at the Centre for Inclusive Economic Opportunity, Golden Mile (CIEO). In this role, she is at the forefront of implementing one of Toronto’s most innovative community economic development initiatives. Building on the United Way’s Inclusive Local Economic Opportunity initiative, CIEO is advancing the growth of the Aecon- Golden Mile construction Joint Venture, supporting place-based collaboration among social sector agencies, and connecting local residents and businesses with economic opportunities, under Victoria’s leadership. She has been leveraging private, public, and nonprofit interests to enhance social well-being, generate economic benefits, and improve environmental sustainability for 20 years. This includes nearly 10 years in Scarborough, initially through the Metcalf Foundation’s Resilient Neighbourhood Economies project and later with the East Scarborough Storefront’s place-based workforce development initiative, East Scarborough Works. Victoria has a Bachelor’s of Public Affairs & Policy Management and a Master of Business Administration, and is always keen to explore ideas that combine community economic development and social purpose business strategy.
